The Sky is Falling, the Sky is Falling!!!

This weekend we had church workday at church. I got assigned to help vacuum out the lights to get rid of all the dead crickets and spiders. Yuck! I've learned a whole lot more about light covers than I ever wanted to! And in case you're wondering from the title of the post, yes, one of them fall on me. We had been working for about 15 minutes when our 3rd light cover refused to go back in its place. I was on the ground (assuming I was safe) trying to help figure out what to do. The minute I turned my back, WHAM!, this giant plastic thing hits me. Suddenly I was very aware that my left wrist felt strangely painful. I was laughing it off because, really, who has a light cover fall on them, when I looked down and saw...blood. Not only did the light cover try to squash me, but it decided to chop me up a little bit. After several band aids, bandages, neosporin,and peroxide cleanses later I now have a neat cut which strangely resembles a crown with a giant slash of lightning. I'm hoping for a pretty sweet scar! I've also discovered, thanks to Christina's expert care, that car first aid kits have little pads that will sting every possible germ out of your wound. I've decided germs die in a fiery inferno.

Wheat field anyone?

My absolute FAVORITE book in the entire Bible is the Book of Ruth. I did a Bible study on it almost a year ago and recently I've felt the need to revisit it in my study time. I also found out that Dr. Patterson did a sermon series on it last semester!! I picked a copy up today! The fact that it is free just made it that more exciting. PLUS the cover is all wheat. God is definitely trying to tell me something. Ruth came up at the very end of the Bible study I did last semester called "No Other gods." One of the last days just "so happened" to be the first Sunday I went out to FBC Alvarado. And it was talking about a barley harvest. Then you throw in the whole "the fields are ripe for harvest" and I just get all excited. I guess what I'm trying to say is that I know God has placed me at FBC Alvarado for this season and I'm excited. A missionary on the field sent me a picture of his people group in a wheat field. Now I just really want to go find a wheat field and read the book of Ruth! Anyone up for finding one with me?

Futbol

Early this semester I discovered my Brazilian friends can play soccer (I shouldn't have been surprised). We've played twice so far and it is SO much fun. Although my team always loses, we have the most team spirit!! Here are some of the pics. Enjoy.

Patience

It all started when the normal 3 hour drive from Cedar Park to Austin turned into the nightmare 5 and half hour drive. Yay for Spring Break traffic. My friend and I were ecstatic when we got up to 25 mph. I missed Bible study, didn't get unpacked, and my groove was just thrown off. I really didn't think it was THAT big of a deal, but my room is still messy and I was tired all day Monday. Sitting in a car that long just isn't any fun. Especially when you have places to be! Needless to say, I've become more sensitive to the word "patience."
Like most people my age I'm trying to figure out God's will for my life. Patience in classes, schedules, relationships, getting a dog, going on the m field, etc.
Emily's blog post a while ago inspired me to go through and list 10 things about God that awe me. #9 on that list turned out to be patience. I was looking through the Bible for different verses about patience and this one knocked my socks off (I couldn't resist using that phrase).

"Does not the potter have the right to make out of the same lump of clay some pottery for special purposes and some for common use? What if God, although choosing to show his wrath and make his power known, bore with great patience the objects of his wrath—prepared for destruction? What if he did this to make the riches of his glory known to the objects of his mercy, whom he prepared in advance for glory— even us, whom he also called, not only from the Jews but also from the Gentiles?" Romans 9:21-24

I'm not even going to try to comment on it because it is way out of my league. I figure Paul can speak for himself. Like in these verses...

"I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who has given me strength, that he considered me trustworthy, appointing me to his service...The grace of our Lord was poured out on me abundantly, along with the faith and love that are in Christ Jesus. Here is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance: Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners—of whom I am the worst. But for that very reason I was shown mercy so that in me, the worst of sinners, Christ Jesus might display his immense patience as an example for those who would believe in him and receive eternal life." 1 Tim. 1:12-16 (pieces of it)

God gets glory by showing his patience to us, sinners.

"Now to the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory for ever and ever. Amen." 1 Tim. 1:17

Black and White

I have a friend who regularly e-mails me pictures of my ABSOLUTE favorite animal. The panda. Here is the latest. Oh I love it. My life's dream realized in a picture!



I just showed my mom this picture and I think she thinks I'm crazy. Probably because I have been telling her all day that we need a dalmation. Which would be my favorite dog. Does anyone else see the common denominator? I really like black and white. Here is the list of things that I like that are black and white....

It all started this morning when we were going to my grandmother's house and the car in front of us had a really cute dalmation. Sigh....I've also been quoting the Disney 101 Dalmations all day today.

Gone with the Wind

Tonight I am having much needed girl time with the wonderful Rebecca Jill Redus! We are watching one of my favorite movies, Gone with the Wind. I get to play with her ADORABLE puppies, eat good food, and watch this fantastic movie. Why is this movie so great? Well, I'm glad you asked!
