Bible Question!

I've been reading a lot about meditation and how that helps your prayer life because it causes you to respond to the truth you are reading. So this morning I decided to try it and of course I don't fully understand the verse!!
"I said to Yahweh, "You are my Lord; I have nothing good besides You."" Psalm 16:2 HCSB

"I said to the LORD, "You are my Lord; apart from you I have no good thing." Psalm 16:2 NIV

What does this verse mean? Does it mean that I have absolutely NOTHING good apart from God? Or does it mean that the only good things I have come from God. For example, I consider my family a very good thing. In response to this verse, should they be nothing compared to how I view God? Does that make sense? I'm really interested to see what ya'll have to say!

Best Weekend/Week of Seminary So Far

Last weekend and this week have been so BUSY, but so much fun! I feel like I am finally settled here and have established a routine (even if it does include waking up at 5:45 to go to the gym). I have lots of stories to write about! Like meeting a girl I graduated from high school with, but never met! Crazy small world! I feel completely surrounded by Chinese people and that is a huge blessing! We had a party in my apt. last night with an authentic Chinese cook, friends, and we even drank 7-up with the food. None of that water for us! God has blessed me in being here and has also challenged me as well. Spending time with him has become really important and difficult at the same time since it is so hard to find time. This weekend will be fun with friends and then my family is coming up for the TCU game on Saturday! Yay! I'm also planning on going to church with my one of my proffesor's family. Anyway, that is the quick update for those of you who I haven't had a chance to talk to this week (Emily and Eryn). Love you!

I Have a Friend Named Emily....

I have a friend named Emily, and she's pretty awesome. I actually just got done talking on the phone with her and was reminded again of how great a friend she is. When you've known each other since you were born, you tend to be pretty close. Emily and I make FANTASTIC music videos. They are the stuff of legends. So Emily, tonight after I read the 500 million pages of homework I am going to watch the "Wave Your Flag" video. I've needed "Em time" for a whole week and it is time to remember what a hilarious summer we had. I love laughing with you, and I'm pretty sure that's all we did while making the video. And I'm pretty sure you're laughing right now reading this ridiculous blog post. I just wanted to reward you for actually reading them lol. Love you!!!!

Home Sweet Home!

I am thoroughly enjoying being home for the Labor Day holiday! I drove in from Fort Worth last night after I got off work and slept in until 9:30 this morning! It was wonderful. Right now my family is watching an OU game on tv. I'm really glad college football is starting again. I've missed it. Life feels normal now. Mom and I went shopping for a little while today. Emily, we got stuff that I can mix and match with things I already have. I'm excited about getting creative with my wardrobe! This semester I will basically live in sweaters because the library is COLD! My job is awesome and I have a lot of fun working there. I've decided to write about some things that I love about seminary...and that make me smile.
-I love the chapel services
-The people
-The fact that I will have friends from all over the world by the time I leave
-Gigantic squirrels on campus
-The fact that I feel like I'm a minority b/c I'm a girl and an American! That cracks me up.
-Professors wear suits and cowboy hats
-There are creepy hallways that make for adventure when you're trying to find an office
-I get to find Chinese people!!!!

These are all random things, but I feel so blessed to be where I am. I cannot wait to see what all God has in store!
